Little Sundae

Despite the extraordinarily challenging vintage conditions Rex Sunde manged to yield a small volume of high quality yet understated grapes from his Oratia vineyard in Auckland. This field blend of Petit Manseng, Gruner Veltliner, and Verdelho was wild fermented in old oak and then rested in stainless steel for 6 months before bottling. It has produced an elegant, medium bodied, dry white wine that is gently perfumed with notes of apricot, white flowers and spice. We really enjoy this classy and appetising wine. Highly scented, the 2023 vintage (4*) is a unique blend of Petit Manseng, Gruner Veltliner and Verdelho. Grown at Oratia, in West Auckland, it was fermented with indigenous yeasts in old oak casks. Bright lemon/green, it is a fresh, medium-bodied wine, with generous, peachy, gently spicy flavours, a hint of apricot, fresh acidity and considerable complexity.
